The Maulers hosted the Bozeman Ice Dogs for their final regular season game Saturday night. Needing a win to finish in second place in the American West division standings, the Maulers ended up falling short by a score of thee to four.

The Maulers failed in their attempt to claim second place in the America West division last night at Glacier Ice Rink. The Bighorns scored six goals on their way to a six to two final score against the Maulers. The Maulers have another chance to get home ice in the first round of the playoffs Saturday night against the Bozeman Ice Dogs.

After a six week absence, the Maulers welcomed the Butte Rough Riders to Glacier Ice Rink. Butte started the game off with a rare empty net goal in the first period, but then it was all Missoula as they coasted to a 7 to 1 win over the Rough Riders.

I was lucky to find a group of Bald Eagles feeding on some type of carcass in the Bitterroot River the other morning. A juvenile Bald Eagle was standing in the water and feeding, as at least two other adults and another juvenile eagle made passes back and forth across the area.

In the first game of a three game weekend at Glacier Ice Rink the Missoula Maulers defeated the Bozeman Ice Dogs during double overtime by a score of 3 to 2. Bozeman goaltender Jake Hebda had an amazing game in goal for the Ice Dogs making 76 saves in the loss.

The visiting Bighorns won the game by a score of 4 to 2 thanks to an end of the game empty net goal. It was also Slash's birthday and he invited his friends for the festivities.

The Maulers hosted the Bozeman Ice Dogs for a matinee game this afternoon at Glacier Ice Rink. The game was close for most of the way until Al Maul scored with less than three minutes remaining to make it a two goal lead. An empty net goal sealed the victory in the final minute and a half.

Tonight was the first night for the Maulers 2009-2010 season and they hosted the NAHL Wentachee Wild for a preseason game at Glacier Ice Rink. The Maulers had a two goal second period while falling by a score of 8 to 2 against the Tier II Jr. A Wenatchee Wild.

Last week I had a chance to take a drive out Rock Creek Road and then over Skalkaho Pass. I was able to take some photos along the way. It was my first time seeing Skalkaho Falls and we also were lucky to run into a small group of Bighorn sheep along the way.

It was an exciting game at the Glacier Ice Rink Friday night when the Maulers hosted the Helena Bighorns in a game that went to double overtime. The Maulers ended up losing the game but played hard to the very end against the division leading Bighorns. During the first intermission the Lil' Maulers took to the ice to showoff their skills.

The Maulers had a chance for revenge against the Quake last night at Glacier Ice Rink but fell short during overtime. The team looked strong as the game went on and they were able to force overtime by coming back from a two goal deficit. Future games between these two teams should be good.

Last night the Missoula Maulers hosted the Yellowstone Quake in a game which would make the winner the owner of first place in the Norpac America West Division. The Quake scored early in the game and went on to win by a score of six to three. The teams face again tonight giving the Maulers a chance to get some revenge for last nights defeat.

The Missoula Maulers defeated the Bozeman Ice Dogs in a dramatic fashion for the first time in franchise history Friday night. Scoring with just two seconds left in regulation to force overtime the Maulers put on a show for the home town crowd. It looks like this could be a really great season.

Friday night was the home opener for the Missoula Maulers as they hosted the Coeur d'Alene Lakers at the Glacier Ice Rink. The team looked solid while skating to a five to zero shut out. With all five Maulers goals coming in the third period it looks like the team has learned how to finish games strong.

I went to my first University of Montana Women's Soccer game on Friday as the Griz hosted Washington State for their home opener. It was a great game but the Griz ended up losing by a score of one to nothing.

The Missoula Phoenix made a trip down the Bitterroot to play the Bitterroot Blaze on an evening that could have easily been mistaken for late October. The Blaze got off off to a quick start and never looked back while winning by a score of 41 to 6.

There was some fantastic bicycle racing this weekend in and around Hamilton, MT as the Tour of the Bitterroot was held. I was able to attend the Criterium races Sunday morning and took a whole ton of photos. I was able to get the Junior, Men 5/Master B, Women 4, and Men 4/Master A races up on the site. The Women 1/2/3 and Men 1/2/3 photos should make it up on the site in the next few days.

There was plenty of offense on display at Washington-Grizzly Stadium this Saturday as the Phoenix hosted the Davis Vipers. The Phoenix cruised to victory by a score of 59 to 21.

With the end of hockey season things have slowed down here in terms of updates. I thought it was time that I added some of the photos that I have taken recently. Now that the weather is getting nicer I have been spending some time along the Bitterroot shooting photos of birds. I'm new to this but so far it has been a good time and I'm looking to improve. I also have a few recent shots of the pets enjoying the first signs of spring in the back yard and a few shots taken of the Sun Mountain Sports building located on the north side of the train yard in Missoula.

The playoffs ended at game 4 for the Maulers as they fell to the Helena Bighorns by a score of 3 to 1 last night at Glacier Ice Rink. This is the end to a great season by the Maulers. It was a packed house last night and a close game right up to the end. I don't know about everyone else but I enjoyed having the Maulers in town this year and wish them luck for next year.

Last night was the first ever playoff game in Missoula for the Maulers as they defeated the Helena Bighorns by a score of 6-2. The Maulers had 4 unanswered goals in the third period and face the Bighorns tonight in Helena.

The Maulers hosted the Helena Bighorns on Thursday night for the final regular season home game at Glacier Ice Rink. With free admission for fan appreciation night the game was packed. The Maulers kept it close until the third period where they ended up falling by a score of 5 to 3.

The game was very close for the first two periods but the Bighorns scored 4 unanswered goals in the third to take the win by a score of 6 to 2. Let's hope the Maulers rebound tonight when they host the Bozeman Ice Dogs.

It was a busy weekend of hockey at the Glacier Ice Rink with both the return of the Maulers and a High School Hockey Tournament. The first set of photos are from last evenings game between the Butte Rough Riders and the Maulers who won by a score of 4 to 3. Earlier in the afternoon the Missoula Bruins "A" team skated to a 1-1 tie with the Golden Eagles from Idaho Falls.

Last night the Missoula Maulers hosted the first place Billings Bulls at the Glacier Ice Rink. This was a close game that was ultimately decided in sudden death overtime when the Maulers went down a skater due to a penalty. This evening's rematch between the two teams should be good.

Tonight is the last set of photos from Rolling Thunder 2007. The final race was the Men's 1 2 3 and it had two twists when compared to the previous races. The first was the rain and the second was the fact that it was dark and the racing was under the lights. Tough conditions for sure!

Rolling Thunder took place this weekend at Osprey Stadium and Shaun Radley and Doug Shryock put on a very impressive event. The weather was not the best but the racing was very entertaining. I have only had time to process and post the photos from the Men's B race so far but will post the Women's race, Men's A, and Men's Master races as soon as possible.

The latest photos are from tonight's game between the Missoula Maulers and the Bozeman Ice Dogs. The the Maulers did not win tonight but I was impressed with how well they played in the second half of a game that could have easily gotten out of hand. I tried adding a few different kinds of shots into the set to see how people like them. I will probably add some more at a later date as I skipped over a bunch when processing them tonight.

The two latest sets of photos to go up on the site are images from the first two home games for the Missoula Maulers. This is the Maulers first season in the Norpac Jr. A hockey league. Friday night was the home opener for the Maulers who defeated the Butte Rough Riders 7 to 4 in front of an estimated 2000 fans. The next night the Maulers lost to the Helena Bighorns 7 to 3. I plan on going to as many Maulers games as I can so look here for future games.

I have also recently added photos from a dark and rainy evening last Wednesday at Fort Missoula for Round 3 of the Missoula Cross Season. Last, I realized that I forgot to add the Men's 1,2,3 race when I added the Tour of the Bitterroot Criterium photos from May of this year. The rainy weather I'm sure was unpleasant for the competitors but it sure made for dramatic photos.
